After a weekend of chaos and energy at the Hella Pain & Diamond Rain event, JCW Commissioner Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse shook things up. Together with Ouija Macc, the big boss of Psychopathic Records' sub-label Chapter 17 Records, history was made. They introduced the first-ever JCW Battle Royale Championship, and it was last Saturday night that this new title had its first champion. And who else but the legendary Ricky Morton, a name that shines more in the wrestling world than your gold chain in the sun.
This man is a walking monument of accomplishments; a former CWA Heavyweight Champion, three-time CWA Tag Team Champion and I could go on and on, as the list is longer than a made-up rap battle between Eminem and Jay-Z. He has scored medals in WCW as a four-time World Tag Team Champion, was among other WCW World 6-Man Tag Team Champion twice, and made his mark as NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion. And having been SMW Tag Team Champion no less than 10 times, you can immediately see why this guy is unstoppable. Even the WWE has etched his name in the Hall of Fame.
But what makes this victory extra salty is that he won the title from his own son, Kerry. Kerry, for his part, is no stranger to the JCW world; he once held the title of JCW World Juggalo Tag Team Champion. It seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, although the senior Morton's strength is still superior. Fun fact: Ricky Morton is not the first WWE Hall of Famer to win a JCW title; the legendary Terry Funk previously did it in style by winning the JCW World Juggalo Heavyweight title at an older age.
The adrenaline from this historic showdown is still splashing, and that's just in time for the Gathering of Legends. The buzz is real, because here JCW will cross swords with Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) in their epic pay-per-view showdown. It promises to be an event that will be sprinkled with considerable salt.
